hello! just thought i'd let you know that when i clicked on the link to your film, on youtube it came up saying the film is 'private' and i couldn't watch it. :( sad times
One of the most successful factors in your film opening, in our opinion, was the use of point of view shots. We agree that they were very effective in creating tension, and allowed the audience to emphathise with the position of the girl, as these shots enabled the audience to literally 'stand in her shoes', making the opening more thrilling and intense. We also thought that the costume was very effective. The man who wore the black coat came across as an intimidating figure, and the black costume represented danger, whilst producing an enigma for the audience. Although the mask used for the black coated man seemed a little unrealistic to us, limiting verisimilitude.

One thing we did notice (which you also pointed out in one of your blog posts!) was the pink umbrella, which seemed to sneak into some shots. This disorientated us, as an audience, and reduced the realism of the piece. This in turn detracts from the attempt to add the elements of a thriller to your film opening.
Although we thought that the film might have been better if it wasn't so light outside, the selection of a day when it was raining meant that a gloomy and intense atmosphere was created, which made the film that bit more horrific and intense. Good work!
great camerawork; good variety of shots used to maximun effect, we particularly liked the point of view shot of the black silouhette in the distance which genuinly quite scared me a bit :S also liked the shot of the photo floating down the stream- effective stuff. I thought your decision to involve only diegetic sound was a good one and gave the scenes an eerie atmosphere, also loved the sinister whistling. Location was also an asset of the film, agree that it could look better if darker but understand that running around a forest in the dead of night isnt everyones cup of tea.. thought the rain proved to contribute well to the intense mise-en-scene. You're probably sick and tired of hearing about the dreaded umberella but it does alter the professionalism that has been acheived otherwise, nice umberella though :) Editing was generally flawless and i really like the title scene accompanied by the whistling, but i think this would have been more dramatic if it was placed at the end of the two minutes, maybe by making the forest scene a '2 days later' and having the street scene to open?

The quick shot of the scary mask was really good; but also made me laugh too. Another good aspect was when luke crosses out the picture of lucy, and then throws it in the river, with the added sound of the river. This was really good shot and lead to you wonder WHY??
However, I feel that you should've stopped at the bit with RACKET, and the heavy breathing. It was a fantastic way of ending the opening and then the rest if jst wasted, evne though its well filmed.
