Here are the pictures of our set. I have analysed the reason why we have chosen our locations, and how they are relevant to our teaser trailer.
This is the sofa which our characters will be lying on in our flashback sequence. They are going to be watching TV from this sofa; laughing and having fun. It is a good size as it enables the two characters to interact closely together and makes the atmosphere seem comfortable and relaxed, as well as intimate.
This is the kitchen where our female character, Megan, is frantically packing her bag full of food and necessities that she needs to survive off of whilst she runs away from her psycho boyfriend. This kitchen is a familiar location, so the audience can relate to the realism of our thriller, which represents how her normal reality is shred to pieces. This safe homely environment now seems a frightening place to be.
This is one of the shots we are going to use where our character, Megan, is running up the stairs. We chose this shot because we wanted to give the audience the effect of being scared and show how fast she is running up the stairs. As it is shot of her feet running, it makes the audience feel as though they are beneath her, just watching her trying escape helplessly. Since the camera is positioned on the other side of the banisters, it is as though we are behind bars, desperate to help but forced to watch from a distance, desperate to help but forced to watch from a distance.
This is the kitchen table, which she places her bag on to pack. It is a high table so that she can simply just turn around and shove her belongings into the bag as quickly as possible, without having to bend down and do it.
This is the cupboard that Megan is grabbing the food out of. She grabs food from three of the shelves that are the easiest to reach. She also reaches for the food which will last a few days without being eaten, showing that she is going to be on the run for a while. This cupboard was good to use, as it is easily accessible, and clear to see what is inside it. If we had of used the cupboards underneath this one, it would have been harder to film what is inside it, and the actions of our character.
This is the draw where the cutlery is kept. From this draw, Eric will grab a large kitchen knife to represent the danger Megan is in. This draw is clearly set out with the different cutlery in different sections, and therefore shows that it is no mistake that Eric grabs the largest knife to use as a threatening weapon.
This is our character Eric. He is wearing smart, casual clothes to show that he is trying to impress the female character Megan. His jeans represent the casual look and the black shirt, which makes him look very presentable and smart. To show he is comfortable with himself, he isn’t wearing any shoes and give the feeling his is very relaxed.
This is Megan’s outfit for the flashback scene of her and Eric cuddling up on the sofa together. This is a casual outfit showing she is comfortable and relaxed. The contrast in what she is wearing compared to Eric is Megan is wearing a green stripy shirt with a white strappy vest over the top. The white shirt portrays her innocence, whereas Eric is wearing all dark colours, black and blue. Also, in contrast to when she is running away, Megan’s hair is down showing she is trying more to impress Eric.
This is Megan wearing her clothes, which she runs away in. The clothes are casual and plain, showing she hasn’t thought about what she is wearing; she has just thrown on what she could find in her hurried escape. Her hair is up in her present day shots of her running away. This shows that she tied her hair back to keep it out of the way, this emphasises the urgencey of her situation.
This is the bag we are using for our prop. It is the bag that Megan is using to pack her belongings in and run away with. This bag is being filled with food and clothes. We decided to change the big hiking backpack to this smaller bag, because it was easier to film with a smaller sized bag, and more accessible to drag around quickly from shot to shot. We thought a larger bag would prohibit Megan's quick movements.
This is the area where Megan and Eric have their first date. In this clip whey are having an indoor picnic in the middle of the room. We had to change it to being indoors, as the weather was cold and raining and not very good to film in. From having the picnic indoors makes it very romantic and relaxing as they are both sitting on the floor next to each other having a good time.
We are having a shot of the front door as the door knocker is hit, to show that Eric is outside trying to get in. This is one of the end clips, showing Megan's danger and is the final clip towards the end of the built up climax. That door is the one thing keeping Megan safe from Eric.
