RESEARCH AND PLANNING - Nightmare on Elm Street Analsis

The generic concepts of the original trailer include:
The music, which creates tension and anticipation
The short clips of different characters being tortured
Only slight glimpses of the evil character, Freddie Kruger
Screaming
Fast editing

The generic concepts used in the new trailer include:
Fast editing
Dark lighting
Scary music (and a child singing the well recognised theme tune)
The sound of a heartbeat which changes to make the audience uncomfortable

How the two trailers are similar:
They both use similar images and clips
The music creates the same scary emotions
Fast editing to create tension
Very brief glimpses of Freddie Kruger

How the trailers differ:
Less of the plot is given away in the new trailer, this may be because the audience may be aware of the narrative already as this new film is a remake.
The new trailer shows the death of Freddie, whereas the old one doesn't.
There is a child singing the main song, which gives an even more scary effect.
the new trailer achieved the feeling that Freddie Kruger was the victim as he was killed, and it showed him being chased and tortured at the beginning of the trailer by the police.
