EVALUATION - Power Point

As said in a post below, we were given the task of putting a power point together to show our class the planning we have done so far for our teaser trailer. Below I am going to post the slides Lucy, Nikki, Dale and I completed, some you will notice are posts already on this blog but also some are different therefore it is important to show what we have done as this power point contributes to our research.

This was our first slide, it is a basic introduction, it tells our class about the genre we have chosen and a brief account of how our ideas have changed over the planning process.

This is our second slide, it is about polls and questionnaires, I chose to post a poll on facebook as I, and our group thought it was important to hear what other people thought about teaser trailers and so we could get their feedback. This, in the long run, will help us with our trailer as we will have a better idea of what attracts an audience to a particular genre and film.
This next slide shows the trailers we have analysed, since this slide show has been made we have analysed more trailer and our continuing to do so. I think it is important as we are learning a lot from these trailers and the conventions they use could help us when filming our trailer.

This slide is a slide which has been posted on the blog before, it shows which music choices we are considering and the website that we found those options from. As shown on the slide we have narrow the chose down to two options: Abducted and Left Out Question. Once we have finished editing we plan to chose between these two, we decided to wait because the we could clearly see which soundtrack fits our trailer best.

Although not mentioned on this slide we also plan to use sound effects in our trailer. We want to find a loud door knock because the enhanced sound would make our trailer more dramatic and a phone ringing for the same reason.

This slide is also on the blog, it shows our choices in captions and titles. As this is already on the blog i will not repeat what it says however when we were filming we decided to record voice overs for the captions as well which we had originally not planned to do. This way we have a choice, we can have the captions and a voice over or just the captions. Raf (our actor who plays Eric) kindly did the voice overs for us, he did them in a typical deep American voice which is often heard in film trailers. We asked him to talk like this as it is a typical convention of film trailers and would therefore make our trailer more professional if we do choose to include them.

These two slides show our trailer summary, this is also posted on the blog, we wanted to include this in our slide show so we could show our class exactly what we planned to and therefore we could get there useful feedback and advice. This summary clear explains what shots we want to use, the location where it is set, which prop we will be using and how fast we want the editing to be.

This slide tells our class that we have been taking photos of our props, locations and characters and that the have been analysed on the blog. This is so they can see why we made the choices we did concerning clothing etc (Jen in white, Raf wears dark colours etc)
This slide, which is also on the blog, shows analysis of some of the shots we are planning to include in our trailer. They are; high angle, low angle, point of view and shot reverse shot. We are planning on using various other shots as well as these but these are the shots we feel we can talk most about.

This slide is of the mind map that Dale has posted on the blog, it shows our basic ideas for genre, location, props, costumes, sound effects etc.
This is the final slide of the presentation, it tells our class that we have completed most of our filming already as we have created a production time line for us and our actors. It mentions who is acting in our film and that they are drama students, we thought it was important to use drama students so our trailer looked as professional as it could. It also shows our class that we have thought about locations and props, also that we plan to keep on researching various trailers. It also tells our peers that we have changed a scene in our trailer, this shows them that we have taken a lot of things into consideration and have adjusted our script accordingly.
Once our class saw our presentation they gave us useful feedback on what we could improve in our planning and what we were doing well. We also got the chance to look at our class mates planning and give them feedback. This task was very useful as it is good to hear what other people think about your work and then you can make the relevant changes to it. The evaluation of our work so far has been very useful and I think we will take it into consideration as we continue to plan and complete our trailer.
Rach.
