RESEARCH AND PLANNING- Notorious

This is a poster for the Alfred Hitchcock's film Notorious. Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman where huge Hollywood stars at the time this film was made so it makes sense that their names are the biggest, as they are so well known having their surnames big and their first names normal sized would still attract an audience as they would still know who they are. Hitchcock is also mentioned - his name is in white where are the actors names and the title is in yellow and all other texts are in black, this makes him stand out. The image looks as if it has been painted onto the poster, Bergman is wearing yellow and this mixes with the blue background and adds to the painted look. The actors body language and pose show that this film is of the romance genre, however Hitchcock's involvement suggests that it might have some thriller elements. The circle around the characters looks almost like a speech bubble, one side of the lines however is jagged, this could suggest that the narrative of the film does not run smoothly and that the characters will encounter some problems. The text at the bottom shows the other supporting actors in the film, Hitchcock is mentioned again as the directer, this shows that he along with Grant and Bergman are the main selling points or the film.
