EVALUATION - Our magazine cover should include…

From my analysis I have concluded that we should attempt to include the following aspects in our film magazine cover. However, I plan to further analyse yet more covers in order to ensure that we have enough information to base our final decisions on. We have already decided that we will use the brand of Empire for our magazine.

• The title should be large and bold, possibly displayed in a bright colour such as read to ensure maximum impact on the audience, and to enable it to stand out from our dark background.

• The bar code and price should be visible but discrete somewhere near the foot of the page.

• The main feature should have the largest and most obvious image on the cover, and should be clearly linked to the title of our film.

• Any sub-headings or further advertisements should be subtly displayed down either side of the page (preferably the right) in a clear font and bright colour which is in contrast with the background.

• Any tag lines should be easily linked with their title and should be in a bold but smaller font.

• The background colouring should remain either very dark or very light depending on the toning of the image, but be either blurred or plain so as not to detract from the image itself.

• The background should possibly be related to the setting/genre of the film e.g. dark for horror/thriller, bright for comedy etc.
