RESEARCH & PLANNING - Film poster

The main features for a poster are:
  • That it indicates genre
  • Shows the protagonist
  • Shows the tittle of the film - font is important - Branding - for example the font used for the Toy Story films
  • Eye catching features - straight forward marketing
  • Invites audience to ask questions about the narrative of the film
  • Release Date
  • credits
  • Producers - big company
  • Tag line
  • Director and what previous films they have done
  • Quotes from critics
  • Cast - what else they have starred in
  • eye catching image
  • Awards given/nominated for
A teaser poster is a poster that shows very little about films narrative but it will give the audience clues about genre. This is an examples of teaser posters for the film Alice in Wonderland:



The main poster for a film is dominated by one or two main images, it has key information such has showing the main characters and who is playing them, the directer (sometimes) and release date, tag lines are also sometimes present. This is an example of a main poster for the Lord of the Rings:
