RESEARCH & PLANNING - Lizzie Mcguire Movie Poster Analysis

This Poster follows many of the typical conventions of a film advertisement...

  • The majority of the poster is taken up by an image, this instantly tells any member of its audience who recognises the character what the film is about. The way in which the character is jumping happily into the air is a suggestion of her nature, which is a hint at the genre of the film, telling us that it is happy-go-lucky and cheerful, her age also tells us it is most probably aimed at young teens.
  • The film title is displayed in large clear letters down the centre of the poster in an individual font.
  • The actress's name is shown clearly at the top of the poster above her picture, this may persuade anyone who has seen her in another film to see this one.
  • The background is plane and white, making the image of the character more visible and making the text stand out.
  • The tagline, "the only risk in taking an adventure is not taking it at all" is in a smaller font than the title but is still clearly displayed above it, showing its significance and relevance to the plot, this is a main give-away of the narrative of the film.
  • The credits are shown is a small pale font below the title, to be seen if you are looking for them but otherwise to blend into the background.
  • The release date is shown is bold dark letters in contrast with the pale background to show its significance, and is introduced with the line "shes going places" this again draws the readers into the story as it causes them to ask questions and know some more about the character.
