RESEARCH & PLANNING - Twilight Poster Analysis

The Twilight Poster also follows the typical conventions often found on film posters...
  • The Image is large and eye catching, showing both the main characters of the narrative. The image also gives away some of the plot in that the characters are shown in great detail, you can see from the image of the girl that she is the heroine, she looks vulnerable and innocent, the male character does not look human, his glowing gold eyes and very pale skin tell us that the genre might be fantasy or supernatural.
  • The title is in a unique font which is signature to this series of films, it also starts with a lowercase letter, which is unusual and memorable.
  • The tag line is shown high on the poster next to the image in a small but striking font, the pale lettering standing out against the dark background. The tagline is also a suggestion of the genre of the film.
  • The positioning of the characters is also a clue to the narrative as they are clearly very close to each other. He is standing in a defensive position above her and the way her hand is held against his jacket shows that she is depending on him for protection, this also suggests that there must be some sort of danger in the film.
  • The credits and release date of the film are shown in a much small font beneath the title but, despite this, they still stand out clearly against the dark background.
  • The overall image of the poster is very dark and sinister, reflecting the nature of the film and possibly the characters themselves.
