RESEARCH & PLANNING - Photoshop, effects and general ideas.

For our poster, I have been thinking about the various effects we could use so that it creates a suitable mood in relation to our genre. As we had opted for the horror/thriller genre, we found our 'Runaway' title to have a glow on its border. Because of this, it would seem suitable to keep the font we use on our poster title to either be the same, or very similar in the style and effects it employs. Considering Photoshop is an incredibly powerful tool, it is easy enough to create this effect through a few clicks of a button.

For our main image, it wouldn't be suitable to simply have an image with some words over the top. That is why we need to use the various tools that Photoshop comes with, including layers so that there doesn't have to be a single image and it's easier to edit the various images atop each other. This way, effects or tools used will only affect the individual image and not those in different layers.

As for the effects of the image, we may need to toggle the contrast, brightness and colour so that we can create that dark, moody effect that our film tries to convey. Saturating the colour slightly can give us the effect of a disequilibrium - a state where safety is far from reach and danger is just ahead.

Although Photoshop is effective, it can be difficult to use at times, so that is why we will research various techniques that we could use on our poster from the Internet. I will post the findings at a later time as to what possible ideas we could use.
