RESEARCH & PLANNING - tag lines on posters of the horror genre

In this post I am going to look at tag lines on posters for films of the horror genre. Our film is mainly a thriller but it also has horror elements (shown in the knife scene of the trailer and the fact that Megan is tormented by her stalker).

This is a poster for the film Friday the 13th, the tag line for this film is: Welcome to Crystal Lake.

The tag line tells the audience about the location of the film, the rest of the poster and the title of the film give the audience genre indicators.

This is a poster for the film Hannibal, the tag line for this film is : His Genius UNDENIABLE His Evil UNSPEAKABLE His Name...

This shows the audience that the main character is 'evil' but also extremely clever, this tells the audience that the film will involve people trying to find Hannibal or trying to figure out what he will do next, what he has done etc.

This is a poster for the film The Fly, the tag line for this film is: Be afraid. Be very afraid.

The tag line shows the audience that this film is of the horror genre, it tells the audience that they will be afraid if they watch this film.

This is a poster for the film Scream the tag line for this film is: Someone has taken their love of scary movies one step too far. Solving this mystery is going to be murder.

This tells the audience straight away that the film will make reference to other horror films and that people are going to get killed.

This is the poster for the remake of the film Psycho, the tag line is: Check in. Unpack. Relax. Take a shower.

This tag line makes reference to a famous scene for the original film. This will encourage people who have seen the first Psycho to go and see the remake.
