RESEARCH AND PLANNING - Percy Jackson -> poster analysis

This poster is typical of an advertisement of this genre in several ways. The producer has cleverly incorporated the main character into the image in order to reveal some of the narrative. The image in itself shows the genre of the film, as it could not be anything but fantasy/supernatural. The title is shown clearly at the bottom of the poster in a font which is signature to that film. The actors names are shown beneath it, along with the credits and the release date, which is accompanied by the phrase "worlds collide", leading the audience into the date and helping them to remember it. At the top of the poster the producer of the film is promoted, informing the audience that he also produced two of the well known Harry Potter series. The overall impression of the poster is dark and mysterious, which is possibly a suggestion that it is not aimed at a younger audience. The body language and facial expression of the character suggest danger, which again is an indicator towards the genre of the film, implying adventure and peril.
Overall this poster is extremely informative, effectively portraying genre, target audience, and promoting the film.
